Woman - Mix
Our blend of Alfalfa, Broccoli, Flax, Sunflower and Red Clover Seeds, Soya Beans, Mung Beans, and Wheat Kernels are chosen for their health benefits for women as well as for their flavour. The Red Clover and Soybeans in this mix are particularly beneficial for women because they contain Isoflavones which are reported to act like Estrogens. This mix may also be beneficial for breast feeding mothers.

Alfalfa (Lucerne) Botanical name: Medicago Sativa (Pea Family) also known as Lucerne in South Africa
Alfalfa is a fine, golden coloured, quick sprouting seed and probably the best know sprout in health circles. It produces a deep green leaf that has a delicious mild flavour plus great nutritional properties.
Nutritional Value: Alfalfa is very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol, and a good source of Protein, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Thiamin, Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Selenium, also a very good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Folate, Potassium and Manganese.
Broccoli Botanical name: Brassica Oleracea
Broccoli is a small, dark, typical brassica seed. It has a fairly strong flavour, so good to mix with other sprouts. Broccoli Sprouts are a renowed Superfood which is reported to boost the immune system. Famous for their antioxidant content, Broccoli sprouts contain approximately 50 x the sulfurophane found in mature broccoli by weight, therefore a handful of sprouts will give you more antioxidant value that one and a half kilos of fully grown broccoli. Broccoli also has the highest Lutein, Cartenoid and Beta Carotene content of all the sprouts.
Nutritional Value: Broccoli is very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol, is a good Protein, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Thiamin, Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Selenium, and a very good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Folate, Potassium and Manganese.
Flax Botanical name: Linum usitatissimum also known as Linseed
Flax is a small, oval, brown seed. Flax seed is an ancient cultivated crop from Mesopotamian times, grown for its oil seeds and fibre. It's chewy seeds a re packed full of nutrients, Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, minerals, and essential vitamins. I
Nutritional Value: Contains Phosphorus, Selenium, Magnesium, Fibre, Manganese, Vitamin B1, and is rich in Omega 3.
Sunflower Botanical name: Helianthus annuus
Sunflower is a de-husked, creamy grey, oval seed. They are super fast sprouters and can be eaten within 2 days, or later if you prefer more of a leaf, thereby making it an excellent choice for microgreens.
Nutritional Value: Very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Thiamin, Vitamin B6, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Copper, Manganese and Selenium, and a very good source of Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol).
Red Clover Botanical name: Trifolium Pratense
Red Clover is a small, oval seed, varying in colour from cream to brown. Red Clover has a similar taste to Alfalfa, being mild and green. It is very nutritious and considered especially beneficial for women
Nutritional Value: This food is low in Saturated Fat and Sodium, and very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Protein, Vitamin A, Niacin and Calcium, and a very god source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Zinc, Copper and Manganese.
Soybean Botanical name: Glycine Max
Soybeans are an unevenly round, soft mustard coloured seed. Although a legume, it is classed as an oilseed and not a pulse by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organizations. High in protein and used as a vegetarian and lactose alternative for many foods, Soya has transcended it's Asian origins to become the most widely cultivated legume across the globe.
Nutritional Value: Very low in Cholesterol. It is a good source of Dietary Fibre, Protein, Vitamin C, Thiamin, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Manganese.
Mung Beans Botanical name: Vigna Radiata
Mung beans are small and green with a typical bean shape. These are the most well known and commonly used sprouting seeds, they are a frequently used ingredients in Chinese cuisine and can be eaten fresh or cooked. They have a wonderful crunchy texture and mild flavour that is similar to peas. Nutritional Value: Low in Saturated Fats and Sodium, very low in Cholesterol, and a good source of Protein, Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Pantothenic Acid, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Potassium, also a very good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Riboflavin, Folate, Copper and Manganese. However a large portion of the calories in this food comes from sugars.
Wheatgrass Botanical name: Triticum aestivum
Wheat kernels are typical brown grass seeds. When grown as a microgreen and juiced, it is claimed to be a shot glass of health. Grown as a micro green to harvest for juicing for which a special juicer will be required.
Nutritional Value: A good source of Protein and Potassium, an a very good source of Dietary Fibre, Vitamin, A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Pantothenic Acid, Iron, Zinc, Copper, Manganese and Selenium.
