Traditional Uses: Lemon balm is renowned for its calming and soothing properties. It is beneficial for treating panic attacks, restlessness, irritability, despair, fear, nervousness, and heart spasms. This herb may help relieve tension, insomnia, stress reactions, and improve concentration and memory. Lemon balm can have a tonic effect on the heart and circulatory system, promoting mild vasodilation of the peripheral vessels and lowering blood pressure. It is useful for digestive spasms and flatulent dyspepsia, particularly when associated with anxiety and depression. Additionally, lemon balm may be effective against Herpes simplex and can treat muscle spasms linked to colds and flu. It aids in heartburn, digestion of heavy foods, flatulence, and colic, and can be used to ease the itching of chickenpox. As a strong antioxidant, lemon balm supports overall health and wellness.

Directions for Use:

  • Infusion: Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 2-3 teaspoons of lemon balm herb. Let it stand for 10-15 minutes, keeping it well covered to retain essential oils. Drink in the morning and evening.
  • For Cold Sores: Make a strong infusion of lemon balm and apply the liquid with a compress.
